WAYKS, a young Berlin-based brand dedicated to creating sustainable, modular outdoor travel gear, has released a new line-up of minimalist, unisex packs and bags—and they've got our attention.
The Sling, Sling Mini, and Day Pack Mini make up the three piece collection, with each designed to interact with all curent and previous products from the company—a hallmark concept of the independent brand.
Launched in 2018 via a successful Kickstarter campaign, WAYKS is run by brother and sister Leonie and Fabian Stein. Founded on an ethos of innovation and sustainability, the team shares, “It is important to us that products from past collections are compatible with new designs and do not lose value, but rather extend their purpose.”
In this new collection, the concept holds true-the Day Pack Mini attaches to the outside of their original WAYKS ONE Travel Backpack, while the Sling and Sling Mini attach together to form the Sling Mini Combo.
The Day Pack Mini is an easy grab and go bag for adventuring around the city, or a quick hike. A roll top can be adjusted for the amount of stuff you’ve got that day and several interior pockets for a laptop, water bottle, chargers, and books keep things organized.
A hidden exterior pocket makes grabbing a wallet or phone easily accessible and an optional Mat Strap can be included to carry a yoga mat, sleeping bag, and other cylindrical items.
The Sling and Sling Mini are both cross-body bags with endless ways to wear them. The Sling has a roll-top that extends to create a Tote or small backpack with a front pocket to store sunglasses, film, a snack, and other small items.
The smallest of the collection, the Sling Mini, is a hip bag, perfect for the essentials while out and about. Adjustable straps transform it into a cross-body as well, if that’s more your thing.
All products come in Black or Sand and are made with recycled and PFC free-materials. This most recent campaign was shot in collaboration with AvaGro, a sustainable agriculture consultation initiative and group of agriculture students in Namibia.
The Day Pack Mini, Sling, and Sling Mini are available for Pre-Sale with prices ranging from €39 up to €89 (roughly $46 - $106 USD).
