As natives to the Pacific Northwest anything Portland’s Danner does catches our attention. While the Danner Light is our go-to adventure boot, the Mountain Light is the brand's best known boot, as one of the outdoor world’s most iconic products, hands down. The minimal design refuses to quit, and lends itself particularly well to collaborations—even the most modest tweaks give the decades old design new life. Case in point, the new Topo Designs x Danner program.
Complete with a limited edition Topo Daypack and Danner Mountain Light, the two-piece collab does well to avoid loud branding while still getting the point across. Topo’s signature red pops on both pieces, in the form of flecked paracord laces on the boots and similar pull tabs on the pack. Otherwise it’s nearly all black everything, which few can complain about.
The Mountain Light ($390) features super soft Horween leather uppers with a Gore-Tex liner and heavy-duty Vibram Sierra outsole. And of course, it’s made in Oregon. Likewise, the Daypack ($189) also employs sturdy Horween leather as a base foundation, with a 12oz cotton canvas body and bomb proof hardware. Each pack is made by hand in Colorado.
There you have it, two rad products produced by brands we’ll forever got to bat for. Enjoy.
